Manta and Inklore, Random House’s new imprint for global comics and light novels, have announced that the novel and manhwa adaptation for Under the Oak Tree will be receiving English print publications.
Under the Oak Tree follows a woman named Maximilian (Maxi) who develops a severe inferiority complex from being abused by her father Duke Croyso. And after years of suffering, she is forced into a marriage with war hero Riftan Calypse. Though they spend their first night together, the two remain strangers as Riftan soon departs for war the next morning. The main story starts three years later, when Riftan returns from war triumphant. While worries of divorce enter Maxi’s mind, her husband unexpectedly shows desire to spend the rest of his life with her.
This romance and coming-of-age tale has garnered much popularity domestically since its release on RIDI’s Korean platform and globally on Manta and the Kindle Store, even topping Amazon’s fantasy bestseller list in the U.S., Canada, France, Italy, and Mexico.
According to Inklore, the first volume of the novel is set to be released in summer 2024.
